The check is best done with the car raised, in much the same way as when changing the oil at a gas station.
1. Inspect each wheel around the perimeter by rotating it.
2. Remove foreign bodies such as small stones, etc. from the tire tread with a thin screwdriver, being careful not to damage the tire.
3. The tire tread, according to the requirements of the law of 1992, must have a depth of at least 1.6 mm over the entire width of the tread (early 1.0 mm).
4. To control wear, bulges on the tread lines located at a certain interval transversely to the working surface are used. They are marked on the side of the tire with the letters «TWI» (Tread Wear Indicator), which translates as an indicator of tread wear.
5. If these bulges are on the same level with the tread pattern, then the tires need to be replaced. Already with 3 mm of residual tread depth, driving on wet roads becomes more difficult, especially on wide tires.
6. Based on how worn the tires are, make a decision to replace them.
