Do not clean these parts or flush the cooling system with caustic soda solution or alkaline compounds, as corrosion of light-alloy elements may occur and leakage may occur. Removed radiators can be stored without any special measures for no more than 48 hours. If this period is exceeded, particles of soldering flux that are in the radiator for technological reasons, as well as dichloride compounds of the coolant previously located in the radiator, upon contact with air, lead to oxidation of the aluminum parts of the radiator, which can lead to leaks.
When storing for more than 48 hours, the radiator must:
- rinse thoroughly with water, dry with compressed air and seal all openings tightly;
- keep it filled with coolant.
