Removal and installation of catalytic converter
Removing the catalytic converter
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Remove the engine cover.
4. Remove the air filter unit.
5. Remove the front right wheel from the vehicle.
6. Loosen the nuts (1) attaching the catalytic converter to the turbocharger.
7. Unscrew fasteners (2) from the exhaust flange.
8. Move the exhaust pipe to the side.
9. Loosen the bolts (3) fixing the catalytic converter to the upper rack.
10. Loosen the bolts (4) attaching the top strut to the engine.
eleven. Loosen the bolts (5) and remove the lower strut.
12. Remove the catalytic converter from the engine.
Installing a catalytic converter
Attention:
- All damaged heat shields must be replaced with new ones.
- The seal between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter must be in perfect condition.
- All removed seals must be replaced with new ones.
- Be careful not to damage the catalytic converter during removal and installation.
1. Tighten the turbocharger stud bolts to 9 Nm.
2. Install catalytic converter.
3. Screw on the fasteners in the following sequence until contact:
- upper strut bolts on the engine;
- bolts of the lower rack on the gearbox;
- upper strut bolts on catalytic converter;
- lower strut bolts on catalytic converter;
- nuts securing the catalytic converter to the turbocharger.
4. Tighten the fasteners with the specified tightening torques in the following sequence:
- nuts fastening the catalytic converter to the turbocharger with a torque of 26 Nm;
- bolts for fastening the upper rack on the engine with a torque of 44 Nm;
- bolts for fastening the lower rack to the gearbox with a torque of 21 Nm;
- upper strut bolts on the catalytic converter with a torque of 26 Nm;
- bolts of fastening of the bottom rack of catalytic converter by the moment of 21 Н·м.
Note: Make sure there is no contact between the catalytic converter and the turbocharger oil return line.
5. Tighten the exhaust pipe bracket bolts to 21 Nm.
6. Verify that all exhaust pipe heat shields are in place and properly installed.
7. Make sure that there is no contact between the exhaust pipe and the bottom of the car.
8. Install the front right wheel on the car.
9. Install the air filter unit.
10. Install the engine cover.
11. Connect the negative battery terminal.
