Removing
Remove the wheel drive shaft from the corresponding side.
Remove covers of shaft of a drive of wheels.
Pic. 3.185. Pressing the coarse vibration damper A with a press
Press the coarse vibration damper A with a press, using a puller as a support (pic. 3.185).
Pic. 3.186. Removing large and small clamps
Saw through the large and small clamps, being careful not to damage the grooves of the hinge housing and drive shaft (pic. 3.186).
Pic. 3.187. Case cutting
Cut the cover along its entire length. Remove as much grease as possible (pic. 3.187).
Attention! Make sure that the strikes are made on the front end of the clip, and not on the treadmills of the balls.
Pic. 3.188. Clip removal: 1 - clip
Using a hammer and punch, apply a few blows to the yoke to disengage the pivot housing from the drive shaft (pic. 3.188).
Remove the retaining ring and protective cover.
Installation
Put on a cover on a power shaft from outside a transmission.
Attention! Do not use solvents to clean hinge parts.
Note. Observe the amount of lubricant put into the hinge, indicated in table 3.2.
Apply some T857740131 grease to the coarse vibration damper bore.
Pic. 3.189. Pressing onto the wheel drive shaft of the damper of large vibrations
Using a press, press the coarse vibration damper onto the wheel drive shaft to obtain a dimension L = 221 mm + 3 (pic. 3.189).
Pic. 3.190. Case installation: 1 - cover; 2 - retaining ring
Lightly lubricate the wheel drive shaft to facilitate installation of the protective boot (pic. 3.190).
Install on the drive shaft:
- clamp of small diameter;
- protective case;
- new retaining ring.
While tapping the pivot body with a brass drift, insert the yoke so that the retaining ring snaps behind the yoke.
Attention! The retaining ring must be replaced every time the hinge housing is removed.
Fill boot and outer pivot housing with equal amounts of grease.
Position the edges of the protective boot in the grooves of the pivot housing and drive shaft.
Rock the CV joint by hand to check that the boot bands are properly installed.
Insert a rounded rod between the boot and hinge body to adjust the amount of air inside the hinge.
Install a large clamp.
Pic. 3.191. Large and small clamps
Tighten the small and large clamps on the cover until they snap into place using the tool (Tav. 1168) (pic. 3.191).
Crimp the clamps.
Place spacer A in the lower cutouts and squeeze the pliers until it stops. The pre-swaged collar can slide over the protective boot. Position it in the right place.
Pic. 3.192. Clamp crimping
Place spacer A in the top notch and squeeze the pliers until it stops (pic. 3.192).
Install the wheel drive shaft on the appropriate side.
