To replace the filter element (cartridge) perform the following operations.
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Remove refrigerant from the air conditioning system (see «Removing refrigerant from the air conditioning system»).
3. Remove the condenser (see «Replacing the condenser»).
Note: Depending on the condenser version, the hole in the receiver for replacing the filter element may be closed with a plug with a retaining ring or a threaded plug.
4. If the hole for replacing the filter element is closed with a plug with a retaining ring, then use a puller to remove the ring.
5. Remove the plug. You can use a puller for this purpose, or cover the plug with a piece of cleaning cloth and apply compressed air to the hole for connecting the pipes.
6. Remove the mesh filter and old cartridge from the receiver body.
7. If the hole for replacing the filter element is closed with a threaded plug, unscrew it with a hex key...
8....and remove from the receiver.
9. Remove the mesh filter and old cartridge from the receiver body.
Warning: If aluminum or plastic particles are found on the surface of the cartridge, the pump part of the compressor has been destroyed.
10. Open the sealed package and install the new cartridge into the receiver.
Warning.
- When purchasing a new filter element (cartridge), make sure it was stored in a sealed package. A filter element stored without packaging is not suitable for use, even if it is completely new and clean.
11. Lubricate the plug sealing rings with clean compressor oil. Install the plug into the receiver and secure it with the retaining ring. Make sure the retaining ring is fully seated in the housing groove.
12. Install the condenser in the reverse order of removal.
13. Fill the air conditioning system with refrigerant at a specialized car air conditioning service center.
