Warning: It is not recommended to tow or push jump start vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter. This may cause the catalytic converter to overheat and fail. Therefore, if the battery is discharged, do not attempt to tow or push the vehicle to start the engine.
For towing a car (or using it as a towing vehicle) Secure the cable only to the eyelets provided for this purpose on the front and rear of the vehicle.
The rear towing eye is located on the right side of the vehicle.
The place for installing the front removable eye is located behind the front bumper and is covered with a plastic cover (with a plug).
1. Open the luggage compartment. The removable eye is fixed to its right wall.
2. Remove the eye from the holders.
3. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry...
4....and open the plastic lid (plug) in the front bumper.
5. Screw in the towing eye by hand and tighten it using a wheel lug wrench or jack handle.
6. Before towing your vehicle, insert the key into the ignition and unlock the steering wheel shaft. Turn on the light signaling according to the Road Traffic Regulations. Manual transmission control lever (Automatic transmission selector lever) set to neutral position (position «N»). If possible, tow the vehicle with the engine running to avoid increased steering and brake pedal effort.
Warnings:
- The brake booster and power steering only operate when the engine is running, so keep in mind that when towing a vehicle with the engine off, the force on the brake pedal and steering wheel increases sharply.
- A car equipped with an automatic transmission with the engine off can be towed at a speed of no more than 15 km/h for a distance of no more than 10 km. Otherwise, the transmission may fail, since the working fluid pump does not work and the transmission parts are not lubricated. For this reason, a car with an automatic transmission should be towed with a tow truck with the front axle suspended.
7. After towing, remove the eye in the reverse order of installation.
